Saundra Alexis Heath is a seasoned executive, business strategist, and dedicated community leader committed to fostering creativity and preserving Harlem’s historic and cultural legacy. A longtime advocate for the Mount Morris Park community, she previously served as vice president of MMPCIA and has played a vital role in strengthening neighborhood ties, promoting preservation, and driving cultural initiatives.
A 40-year Harlem resident and homeowner, Saundra has led and collaborated on major community arts and public space projects. She has partnered with Harlem Grown, the Mellon Foundation, Jerome Haferd Studios, and NYC Parks on the Harlem Grown Creativity, Care and Culture Initiative and public art installations Sankofa and Aleia. She played a key role in the Harlem Black Lives Matter mural alongside her husband, artist Thomas Heath . She co-produces, HangNight™️, a monthly emerging artist incubator and the “We’re Outside” art exhibit featuring local artists in partnership with City Parks Foundation SummerStage. She’s also partnered with The Soapbox Presents to host a meaningful salon event bringing niche women industry leaders and artists together. Beyond her community work, Saundra is an award-winning marketing strategist, creativity coach, and mentor to artists. She founded Show + Sell Your Art™️, a business incubator helping artists build sustainable careers, and has provided free career training to artists through her Art Biz Bootcamp in Marcus Garvey Park. A former senior executive in fundraising, advertising, and public relations, she is also the author of Procter & Gamble’s “My Black is Beautiful” manifesto, a defining statement celebrating Black beauty and culture. Saundra is originally from St. Louis, Mo.
