MMPCIA’s 2nd Annual Holiday Gala is Tuesday, December 8, from 7 to 10 PM. Tree Lighting at 6 PM.

HolidayAuctionBanner_09We want to be first on your holiday calendar! Tuesday, December 8, the Mount Morris Park Community Improvement Association will gather with friends, neighbors and supporters to ring in the season and celebrate its 2nd Annual Holiday Gala & Fund Raiser.

The Holiday Gala & Fund Raiser is one of MMPCIA’s important fund raising efforts. Proceeds support the Scholarship Award given in June to a Harlem High School senior on her/his way to college; the Harlem Library; the Rice High School Student Tuition Fund; provide toys for the holidays to children in need; and help support the organization’s other community efforts set forth in its annual goals.

The Oline Auction Ends at 9PM Monday, 12/7! You can still join the fun today by logging on to MMPCIA’s Online Silent Auction! Click here and you’ll find how easy it is to find special gift items for yourself–or significant others–from Dinners for Two at local restaurants, gift certificates, collectibles and fashion items, to Harlem Renaissance artwork from established and up-and-coming Harlem artists, weekends away, and more.

At 6 PM on the 8th, on your way to the Gala, stop by for the  MMPCIA-sponsored Christmas Tree Lighting in the Lenox Avenue meridian, between W119 and W120 Streets.

The Gala kicks off at 7 PM! You won’t want to miss this chance to mingle with neighbors, sample hors d’oeuvres prepared by Amy Ruth’s, propose a toast with a glass of cheer, enjoy live local jazz by Christine Melton & Her Trio—and raise your bid paddle at our Live Auction!

And, as is our annual tradition, we will also be honoring deserving local residents and friends of the Mount Morris Park Community. This year we are presenting three special awards recognizing Dr. Thelma C. Davidson Adair with the 2009 Cornerstone Award, the 28th Police Precinct with the 2009 MVP Award, and Kiersten Chresfield with the 2009 Rising Star Award.

The party venue is the Indigo Arms Guest House, 181 Lenox Avenue at West 119 Street. Dress is business or party attire. Admission is one toy for a child up to 10-years old or canned or dry food for the pantry and a suggested $10 donation to the Scholarship Fund. No unaccompanied minors, please.
